Sean Joyce
About
Sean has been a PGA of Canada member since 2007. In his first season as a PGA Member, he was responsible for scheduling and leading a season long, provincial Future Links junior golf program at multiple golf clubs. This not only helped his time management and organizational skills, this experience is what has led to a career in player development.
Sean started coaching in 2007 as an assistant with the Holland College Hurricanes where he was first introduced to working with players over an extended period of time. The program was ahead of its time and helped him acquire the experience he needed to (years later) run a provincial program.
Sean has spent thousands of hours on the lesson tee as an Assistant Professional (The Canadian Golf Academy), an Associate Professional (The Marshes Golf Club), and a Teaching Professional (GolfTEC Ottawa). Of all the skills he acquired through the years, the most important is how he learned to communicate and develop relationships with his students & players.
Sean got started before the "Modern Ball Flight" laws became the standard and transitioning from video based diagnosis to other measurement tools is something he takes time to learn every single day. Golf fitness, golf nutrition and modern golf statistics (strokes gained) are all part of how he helps his players improve and reach their goals.
Sean has been well mentored over the years and has been extremely fortunate to have learned from some of the best in the business. His time with Anne Chouinard (Canadian Golf Academy), Jeff Donovan (Holland College) and Andrew Donaldson (The Marshes Golf Club) is the reason he stays motivated and works towards new goals every season.
Sean accepted the role of Director of Golf at Mill River in 2019.
Sean lives in Mermaid, PEI with his wife Samantha and their two kids Nathan and Elizabeth.
