TPC Toronto announced as host of 2024 ORORO PGA Women's Championship of Canada July 2-5

[Acton, Ontario] – The 2024 ORORO PGA Women’s Championship of Canada, the final event of the newly-formed She Plays Golf series, is heading to TPC Toronto at Osprey Valley July 2-5.   A field of 60 players comprised of PGA of Canada members and touring professionals, along with top amateurs and juniors, will compete for the historic national championship and purse of up to $60,000 depending on field breakdown. The field will be cut to the top 30 players plus ties following the second round.   The She Plays Golf Series includes three 54-hole events taking place in Calgary, Vancouver, and Toronto, where the top two finishers of each event earn a berth into the LPGA Tour’s CPKC Women’s Open, set for July 23-28 at Earl Grey Golf Club in Calgary, AB.   In addition, the top player not already exempt on the season long points standing following the ORORO PGA Women’s Championship of Canada will also earn a coveted spot in the event.   The 2024 ORORO PGA Women's Championship of Canada at TPC Toronto signifies a significant milestone in fostering inclusivity and empowering female athletes. She Plays Golf Participation Festival events will also be held at various golf facilities throughout the Greater Toronto Area during the event.   "I speak for all members of the PGA of Canada when I say how proud we are as an association to be a part of such an important initiative,” said PGA of Canada President Gord Percy. “The She Plays Golf Series aligns seamlessly with our commitment to promoting diversity and excellence in golf.   “The ORORO PGA Women’s Championship has always been one of our most coveted titles, and we are looking forward to welcoming one of our strongest fields ever in 2024,” continued Percy.   For more information on the She Plays Golf series, click here.   Historically, the championship has highlighted both the top professionals in the country and the up-and-coming stars of women’s golf; Brooke Henderson won the event in back-to-back years from 2015 to 2016. Alaina Sharp is the reigning champion; she tied Lorie Kane for the most ORORO PGA Women’s Championship of Canada titles (5) last year at Kingsville Golf Club.   The 2024 edition of the event will be played on TPC Toronto’s links-inspired Heathlands course. Inspired by Ireland’s Portmarnock Golf Club, the Heathlands’ fescue-covered dunes, pot bunkers and severely sloped greens pay homage to classic golf design with one of the truest tests of golf in Ontario. It was most recently ranked #18 among SCOREGolf’s Top 59 Canadian Public Courses.   "We’re thrilled to welcome this storied tournament and the She Plays Golf series to the Heathlands course. When we were approached as a potential host for this historic national championship, we saw a tremendous opportunity to partner with the PGA of Canada and advance our shared values of promoting diversity in the game of golf. We look forward to an outstanding competition this summer.” said TPC Toronto General Manager Terry Kim.   Registration for the ORORO PGA Women’s Championship of Canada will open April 1, 2024.   ORORO Heated Apparel launched their product line of heated jackets, vests, hoodies, gloves, mittens and socks in 2015, and became title sponsor of the PGA Women’s Championship of Canada in 2021.
