The PGA of Canada and GOLFTV Partner to Offer Members Priority Access to World-Class Golf Content
[October 7th, 2019] The PGA of Canada is joining forces with GOLFTV powered by PGA TOUR in a first-of-its-kind partnership to offer its members complimentary priority access to the new global golf destination. For the first time, a national golf federation is partnering with a global rights-holder to present its members with a service offering live and on-demand video streaming of some of the very best golf in the world.
In a move to bring world-class golf to as many members, players and fans across the country as possible, GOLFTV is now a National Partner of the PGA of Canada. It will also be a Supporting Partner of the RBC PGA Scramble presented by The Lincoln Motor Company, the national series of events taking place at more than 175 golf facilities around the country and culminating with the Regional Finals on the first weekend in October 2019.
“On behalf of the PGA of Canada and all our 3,600 members from coast-to-coast, we are so excited about partnering with GOLFTV and all the opportunities that lay ahead,” said PGA of Canada CEO Kevin Thistle. “GOLFTV is changing the way golf fans consume content and we look forward to introducing the platform to PGA Scramble participants and PGA Professionals across the country.”
“Discovery and GOLFTV is dedicated to helping to grow the game of golf and we are thrilled to support the PGA of Canada’s outstanding service for members and golfers to do exactly this across the country,” said Alex Kaplan, President and General Manager of Discovery Golf and GOLFTV.
“Our new agreement is exactly the type of innovative collaboration Discovery is looking to establish within golf. We look forward to working closely with the PGA of Canada to enhance the value and benefits their members receive even further. With The Challenge: Japan Skins on October 21 and new episodes of My Game: Tiger Woods series released each week, this is a perfect time to enjoy live and on-demand content on GOLFTV,” he added.
GOLFTV is a new global destination and video streaming service for golf fans created by Discovery, a leader in real-life entertainment and international sport. Available on a wide range of devices, it features more than 2,000 hours of live action from the PGA TOUR per year, including live coverage from the main TOUR events, and almost 150 tournaments in all, including the PLAYERS CHAMPIONSHIP, the FedExCup Playoffs and the upcoming Presidents Cup in December 2019.
PGA of Canada members and RBC PGA Scramble presented by The Lincoln Motor Company participants will be provided with personal access to GOLFTV. Members can enjoy GOLFTV through to the end of 2020, while RBC PGA Scramble presented by The Lincoln Motor Company 2019 amateur participants will be rewarded with access to the service for the rest of the year.
Members and participants will be able to enjoy exclusive GOLFTV content via vouchers issued directly by the PGA of Canada in the coming weeks.
The partnership comes at a particularly exciting time for golf fans on GOLFTV, with the recent announcement of The Challenge: Japan Skins and launch the 12-part My Game: Tiger Woods series.
The Challenge: Japan Skins – available to watch live and on-demand exclusively on GOLFTV in Canada – is a new high-profile competition featuring Tiger Woods going head to head with reigning FedExCup champion and PGA TOUR Player of the Year Rory McIlroy and multiple-time PGA TOUR winners Jason Day and Hideki Matsuyama in a globally-televised skins game.
My Game: Tiger Woods is an exclusive GOLFTV series that takes players and fans inside the mind of one of the game’s greatest ever players. Audiences are given a rare, up-close look at Tiger’s game from the man himself, as he shares the secrets of his approach, technique and how his game has evolved during his record-breaking career. From pre-round mental preparation to his detailed putting practice; the formative influences on his game and the latest workout techniques he employed as he returned to his peak powers, My Game: Tiger Woods is the definitive guide to Tiger’s game for established golfers, beginners and fans alike.
The partnership will also provide PGA Professionals with the opportunity to get their membership and facility engaged as well, through the ability to offer GOLFTV and further immerse their players with world-class golf coverage and content.
