PGA of Canada Partners on New Occupational Standards Research Initiative
The Professional Golfers’ Association (PGA) of Canada, National Golf Foundation (NGF) and the National Golf Course Owners Association Canada (NGCOA Canada) recently met to lay down the groundwork for the creation of the Occupational Standards Research project.
The research project—which is the first of its’ kind for PGA of Canada professionals—looks to identify skills, competences and role descriptions for PGA of Canada professionals. The research will also include identification of expectations of golf facility owners and operators.
“The PGA of Canada is excited to be working alongside the NGF and NGCOA Canada on this first of its’ kind research project,” said PGA of Canada CEO Gary Bernard. “We look forward to the many outcomes and relevant information derived from this research,” he said, adding, “It is our intention to use data as a guide to support future decisions in ways to support PGA of Canada members in their chosen employment and education pursuits.”
“The NGCOA Canada is thrilled to be part of this research project with the PGA of Canada and the NGF,” said Jeff Calderwood, NGCOA Canada CEO. “It is our hope that the resulting data will help to better align golf course owners’ needs with the career of the PGA of Canada golf professional.”
PGA of Canada and NGCOA Canada members can expect a survey link in their inbox come late March. The survey will be the key data gathered in the research project.
More information on the key findings and outcomes of the research will be released later in the year.
