PGA of Canada Hall of Fame Seeks Nominations
The PGA of Canada Hall of Fame is currently accepting nominations for its 2018 induction class.
Hall of fame nominees must be—or have been—a PGA of Canada member; be at least 55-years-old; and have made an extraordinary national or international contribution to the game of golf.
“The PGA of Canada Hall of Fame is dedicated to our members—the men and women who have been the foundation of the association since our inception in 1911,” says Warren Crosbie, PGA of Canada Hall of Fame committee chair. “It is a means to preserve our history, celebrate PGA of Canada members and, communicate our story to the public.”
Elected in four categories—Club Professional, Player, Teacher/Coach and Administrator—nominees achievements must be in the form of dedication to his/her club; playing accomplishments on a national and world stage; promoting the game through teaching and player development or; exceptional contribution(s) to the industry.
Nominations must be received no later than July 1. All nominations must be typed or sent electronically. Each nomination must be seconded. Individuals may not nominate themselves; be a director on the national board; an employee of the PGA of Canada or; be a member of the PGA of Canada Hall of Fame selection committee.
A committee of past presidents, honorary directors, members and representatives of the golf industry is responsible for reviewing nominations and selecting individuals for induction into the PGA of Canada Hall of Fame.
Once elected to the PGA of Canada Hall of Fame, the nominee is officially inducted at PGA of Canada Night in January at the PGA Merchandise Show in Orlando, Fla. Virtually housed at www.pgaofcanadahalloffame.com, the honoured member’s portrait and biography is then enshrined in the PGA of Canada Hall of Fame.
The PGA of Canada Hall of Fame was launched in 2014 with the induction of inaugural class of 26 members. Robert Cox, Lorie Kane and Alvie Thompson were inducted this past January.
