The PGA of Canada is pleased to announce a new national partnership with Earth Networks, a leading global provider of weather intelligence and advanced technology to help golf courses automate decisions regarding player, staff and visitor safety.
Earth Networks operates the world’s most comprehensive weather observation and lightning detection networks, with more than 10,000 neighborhood-level weather stations and over 1,500 lightning sensors installed around the world, including several world-renowned golf clubs and resorts. The partnership will provide the PGA of Canada with real-time location based severe weather monitoring and lightning alerting capabilities.
“This is a very important partnership for the PGA of Canada, both for our PGA national championships and for what we stand for as an association,” said PGA of Canada president Steve Wood. “The safety of our PGA professionals, staff and volunteers is paramount and we look forward to helping protect these individuals with world-class technology from Earth Networks.”
Earth Networks already partners with 13 PGA Sections throughout the U.S. to provide golf courses with location-based severe weather visualization and alerting for onsite events. In addition to the PGA Partnerships, Earth Networks is also a bronze Corporate Advantage Partner (CAP) of Club Managers Association of America (CMAA) and works with other sports organizations to promote weather safety. Canadian clubs currently utilizing Earth Networks solutions include: The Royal Ottawa Golf Club, Carleton Golf & Yacht Club, Beach Grove Golf & Country Club, and Beaconsfield Golf Club.
“Earth Networks is excited to partner with the PGA of Canada. We have had great success working with PGA Sections to educate the golf community about keeping players and staff protected from dangerous lightning and severe weather. We look forward to providing the PGA of Canada peace of mind for all onsite events, and offering affordable, turnkey solutions for clubs across Canada,” said Mike Alberghini, Manager Broadcast, Club & Sports Safety, Earth Networks.
As part of the partnership, PGA of Canada professionals and the golf facilities they manage around the country will have access to PGA partner pricing as well as best practices from the latest expert research from Earth Networks.
Earth Networks software will debut at the PGA Championship of Canada sponsored by Mr. Lube and presented by TaylorMade-Adidas at Deer Ridge Golf Club in Kitchener, Ont., starting on June 12th.
