Nancy Harvey to Compete in the Canadian PGA Women’s Championship presented by NIKE Golf
ACTON, ON (July 14, 2008) —The Canadian PGA announced today that Nancy Harvey of Swift Current, Sask. has confirmed her entry to play in the Canadian PGA Women’s Championship presented by NIKE Golf.
Harvey, the ‘94, ‘95 and ‘00 Champion of this event, is one of the greatest Canadian ambassadors for the game of golf.
“I’m very excited to make my return to the Canadian PGA Women’s Championship,” said Harvey, former LPGA executive committee vice-president. “This event has always been a favorite of mine and I’m looking forward to seeing everyone again at Credit Valley.”
One of the most decorated Canadian female players of all-time; Harvey’s career has spanned 19 years on the LPGA Tour and over 385 LPGA Tour events. In addition to her impressive longevity on tour, Harvey’s career earnings total nearly $800,000 and includes two runner-up finishes in 1997 – a year she finished 46th on the LPGA Tour Money List.
“We are thrilled to have Nancy Harvey in our field once again,” said Jeff Dykeman, Manager of Business Development for the Canadian PGA. “In addition to her being a three-time champion of this National Championship, Nancy is well known to Canadian players and fans and her presence at Credit Valley will be fantastic.”
The Canadian PGA Women’s Championship presented by NIKE Golf will make its debut August 6-8, 2008 at Credit Valley G&CC in Mississauga, Ont. The 22nd edition of the event, which will also be open to foreign players for the first time, offers a purse of $70,000 for club and touring women professionals.
Along with opening the field to foreign players, the event is receiving a makeover of sorts as amateurs and professionals can be fitted and demo NIKE Golf’s innovative products before the Simmlands Insurance Pro-Am on August 6, which will be followed by a NIKE Golf fashion show. Pro-am participants will also be eligible to win a NIKE Golf makeover.
Player confirmations and announcements will continue in the weeks leading up to the event.
The event is free for spectators to attend.
