Graham DeLaet Blog - Wins again!

Hello,

This week I played in the BMG Classic on the Sunshine Tour at Glendower Golf Club in Johannesburg, South Africa. I shot rounds of 68, 69, 68 (-11) and got my fourth professional win by one stroke.

I played really solid all week other than a bogey, double bogey, bogey stretch in the middle of my second round. I was +3 through 6 holes but fought back and made 6 birdies and no bogeys coming in. I finished the second round in a tie for the lead and was in the final group for the 3rd and final round.

I was having trouble getting anything going the final round. I was even through the first 7 holes, but then eagled the par 5 8th, followed by a birdie at 9 to turn in -3. I hit a very poor tee shot on 10 and had to chip out of the trees leading to my second bogey of the day. I then birdied 12, 13, 16 and held a 2 stroke lead with two to play. I hit my tee shot long left on the par 3 17th and made bogey. The 18th is a tight driving hole, but I split the fairway with my tee shot and had PW in. I hit it right over the flag to about 20 feet, but was left with a very fast putt. With intentions of lagging the putt and 2 putting for the win, it got away from me a bit and I was left with a nervous 4 footer for the win. Thankfully I made the putt and finished it off.

I didn't have much time to celebrate, as I had to get on a plane just a few hours after the tournament. I am currently in a layover in London on my way back to Boise. I will be spending the next few weeks there and then head to 2nd stage of PGA Tour Qualifying.

Cheers,
Graham
