Weyburn, Saskatchewan’s Graham DeLaet will undergo minor back surgery to repair a herniated disc. DeLaet suffered from a bulging disc for most of 2010, but it became herniated late in the season causing him to miss the final event of the Fall Series. The minor surgery will be performed on January 3rd, 2011 and will require 8 weeks of rehab.
After several weeks of exercise and therapy, DeLaet’s medical team advised him to proceed with the routine surgery. A complete recovery is fully anticipated.
DeLaet will miss a few early season events but is still focused on not only retaining his status as top Canadian on the PGA Tour, but to also capture his first victory on the PGA Tour and become one of the top players in the world.
DeLaet finished the 2010 season 100th on the PGA Tour money list earning over $950,000 (US) and finishing as the top Canadian on Tour. He is the first Canadian rookie in over a decade to retain his card.
DeLaet had a strong finish to the season finishing T5 (Viking Classic), T25 (McGladrey Classic), T6 (Frys.com Open) and T18 (Justin Timberlake Shriners Open). Earlier this year Graham finished T3 at the Shell Houston Open, the best showing of any Canadian on Tour in 2010.
DeLaet turned professional in 2006. His corporate support team includes Titleist, RBC, Transitions Optical, J. Lindeberg and Oakley.
