Dave Barr and Bob Panasik Confirm Entries into 2010 Mr. Lube – Canadian PGA Seniors
Acton, ON (June 15, 2010) – The Canadian PGA is pleased to announce that Canadian Golf Hall of Famers Dave Barr of Kelowna, BC and Bob Panasik of Windsor, ON will be teeing it up at the 2010 Mr. Lube -Canadian PGA Seniors’ Championship presented by Cleveland Golf/Srixon at RattleSnake Point Golf Club in Milton, ON July 5-8.
One of the greatest players in Canadian golf history, Barr became a Canadian PGA Member in 1974 and was inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame in 2000. He is a two-time PGA Tour champion and became the first Canadian ever to win on the Champions Tour with his win at the 2003 Royal Caribbean Golf Classic. On home soil he’s racked up over 14 major victories including the 1985 Canadian PGA Championship, the 2007 Canadian PGA Seniors’ Championship and twelve victories on the Canadian Tour.
“I’m looking forward to once again playing in the Canadian PGA Seniors’ Championship,” said Barr, who missed last year’s event due to a back injury. “There is a lot of excitement for the event with new sponsors Mr. Lube and Cleveland Golf/Srixon and the players are eager to battle for that National title.”
Panasik is a nine-time Canadian Tour champion who has also represented Canada at the World Cup on three occasions (1972, 1973, and 1975). He qualified for the US Open Championship a remarkable 11 times between 1964 and 1983 and for the US Senior Open Championship in 2002. Panasik’s name still finds its’ way onto PGA TOUR telecasts as he still holds the record as the youngest player to make a cut in a PGA TOUR event, doing so at the age of 15 years and 8 months at the 1957 Canadian Open.
Panasik is also the owner of one of the most decorated Canadian PGA resumes in history. His feats include two Canadian PGA Championships, two Canadian PGA Club Professional Championships, three Canadian PGA Senior Championships and two Canadian PGA Super Senior Championships.
“Dave Barr and Bob Panasik are two icons of Canadian golf that every golf fan should watch play at least once in their life,” stated Glenn Cundari, President of the Canadian PGA. “We expect the 2010 Mr. Lube – Canadian PGA Seniors’ Championship presented by Cleveland Golf/Srixon to come down to the final hole and I’m sure Barr and Panasik will be two names near the top of the leaderboard.”
The 2010 Mr. Lube – Canadian PGA Seniors’ Championship presented by Cleveland Golf/Srixon will kick off festivities on July 5th with the Mr. Lube Tournament for Life Pro-Am with proceeds benefitting Prostate Cancer Canada.
