CPGA Member Bryn Parry to Play in the 2007 Canadian Open

ACTON, ON (July 11, 2007) - The Royal Canadian Golf Association (RCGA) announced today that Canadian PGA Member Bryn Parry has received a sponsor’s exemption into the 2007 Canadian Open at Angus Glen Golf Club.

Parry earned full membership status on the Nationwide Tour this year after making it through the first two stages of PGA Tour Qualifying School before finishing in a tie for 41st place in the final stage. His 7–under par total in the grueling five round tournament final stage left Parry one shot away from getting his PGA Tour card for the 2007 season.

Parry attributes his recent success to a few changes in his routine this year. He decided to take his father’s advice to work with a coach to improve his mental game. Then Parry chose to take on the responsibility of coaching young competitive players in techniques of competition and ended up following his own suggestions that he was giving to his students on the course each day. Finally, Parry’s extremely successful season last year has equipped him well for what lies ahead. “My experience last year has definitely helped me prepare for the Open, I have been playing with other golfers who are at the top of their game, and with that comes the large crowds, so I will be comfortable playing with all of the public watching,” said Parry.

Last year, Parry had one of the most remarkable seasons in Canadian professional golf history dominating the local circuits, including 16 victories and top five finishes in 32 out of the 35 events that he played. Parry has received the CPGA BC Zone Player of the Year award three times, has a victory in the 2006 BC PGA Assistant’s Championship, and two Canadian PGA Assistant’s Championship titles.

Parry has had quite an impressive year so far on the 2007 Nationwide Tour. His best finish to date was a tie for second at the Henrico County Open in Richmond, Virginia this April, where he picked up the biggest cheque of his season and career of $33, 600 USD.

The Canadian Open will be contested July 23-29 and will mark the second time Angus Glen Golf Club hosted Canada’s premier golf event. The last time Angus Glen hosted was in 2002 when it was contested on the South Course.

Since April, we have been following Parry’s journey on our blog as he embarked on his first year on the Nationwide Tour with full playing status. For more information and to read Parry’s blog go to www.cpga.com
