Reporting to the Executive Director, the Technical Director develops, manages, and executes the Sport, Grow the Game and Player Development portfolios.
The Technical Director of the NSGA will focus primarily on grow the game, sport development and player development initiatives as they align with the association’s Strategic Plan. This person will work closely with Sport Nova Scotia (SNS), other Provincial Sport Organizations (PSOs), the PGA of Canada, the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic (CSCA) and other Provincial Associations to understand the direction for golf in our province.
Due to the nature of the industry, it is expected that the Technical Director will work more than 40 hours many weeks of the busy season and less than 40 hours many weeks of the slower season. Scheduling will be managed by the Executive Director and while getting the job done is important, fostering an environment of a healthy life balance is of equal importance.
The Technical Director will create a plan that will address player development within our province. This plan will include programming for beginner, intermediate and advanced youth and adult golfers. The Technical Director will execute this plan in conjunction with First Tee, with the assistance and resources of the NSGA, volunteers and industry partners.
- Responsibilities

- Create a plan to manage and oversee the growth of the sport and golfers in NS
- Assist with the delivery of programs and reports as directed by the Executive Director
- Ex-officio member of the Player Development, Handicap/Course Rating, and Rules Committees
- Attend Board and committee meetings as required
- Attend provincial and national level meetings as required
- Assist and/or take leadership of activities as directed by the Executive Director
- Background and Vulnerability Checks performed
- Assist in the content and updates on the NSGA website and social media accounts
- Qualifications

Essentials:
- MUST be a candidate or Class A member of the PGA of Canada & certified instructor and coach
- Above average communication and interpersonal skills
- The ability to create and nurture positive relationships with association members, the golfing community, industry and association stakeholders, and partner organizations
- Create a culture around on-going coaching education
- Build pathways to develop and implement grow the game strategies and programs that are aligned with the National Long-Term Player Development guide
- An understanding and full compliance with Safe Sport practices
- Comfortable with technology-based platforms and working with computers regularly
- An understanding of the golf industry and the ability to seek out opportunities to grow the sport in Nova Scotia
- Ensure that the role fulfills the requirements of Sport NS
- Ensure that the role fulfills the requirements of the Employment Program of the Canadian Sport Centre Atlantic (CSCA)
- Assist, as required, with the introduction and management of the First Tee Program
- The ability to work with diverse groups and assist in making the sport more accessible

- The ability to take pride in your work and a desire to develop as a person and a professional
