The Golf Course Superintendent will oversee all aspects of golf course maintenance and agronomy, including turf management, irrigation, staff leadership and budget planning. The successful candidate will balance operational excellence with strategic vision, ensuring the course remains consistently in top condition, sustainable and aesthetically outstanding. You will work closely with the Board of Director Liaison and Head Golf Professional to ensure seamless integration of maintenance activity with club operations and member play. - Responsibilities

Leadership & Collaboration:
- Reports to the Board of Directors, working closely with Club Liaison to align operations with strategic goals
- Collaborate with the Head Golf Professional to ensure golf course maintenance supports the member experience and tournaments
- Leads, mentors and develops a motivated maintenance team, fostering a positive and collaborative work culture
Course Management Agronomy:
- Oversee all phases of golf course maintenance, including greens, fairways, roughs and gardens
- Develops and implements sustainable turfgrass management programs, including aeration, topdressing and pest management
- Manages irrigation system, including scheduling, repairs and monitoring water usage to meet regulatory and environmental standards
- Creates and implements annual maintenance schedules to maximizes member enjoyment and ensure course readiness for special events and tournaments
Operations Safety Compliance:
- Ensures compliance with WorkSafe BC and federal/provincial safety regulations, including pesticide application and equipment use
- Develops and manages a preventative maintenance plan for all mechanical equipment
- Oversee the safe and effective application of fertilizers and chemicals, ensuring accurate record-keeping and compliance with environmental standards
Budgeting & Financial Management:
- Develops and manages the annual maintenance budget in collaboration with the Finance Manager and Board Liaison
- Tracks and manages all expenses, including payroll, chemicals, equipment and supplies
- Works with Finance Manager to ensure accurate financial reporting and accountability for golf operations
Capital Projects & Improvements:
- Works with Club leadership to identify, plan and execute capital improvement projects to enhance the course
- Provides strategic input on course enhancements, including drainage, bunker renovation and tee construction
- Member Engagement & Communication
- Communicates regularly with members, providing updates on course conditions, ongoing projects and maintenance activities
- Qualifications

- 3-5 years of experience as a Golf Course Superintendent or 1st Assistant Superintendent,
- 2 or 4-year Degree or Certificate in Turf Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, Plant Science or related field.
- Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to recruit, train and retain high-performing staff.
- Expertise in turfgrass management, irrigation systems, and the application of fertilizers and pesticides. Pesticide Application License required.
- Solid understanding of financial management, including budget development, forecasting, and cost control.
- Strong interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with staff, members and the community.
- Advanced computer skills for operations management, including Microsoft Office and industry-specific software.
- Compensation
- Wage – $65,000 to $85,000 based on experience
