The PGA of BC Board is searching for a strong communicator who has the skill set to work collaboratively with all stakeholders in running the day-to-day operations as well as future strategic planning for the PGA of BC.Qualified candidates are expected to be the face of the association and bring their leadership skills to this multi-faceted business.

Job Summary

The Organization –

The PGA of BC comprises of over 700 PGA of Canada members from BC & the Yukon. It is the second largest zone in the country. The PGA of BC is led by a policy volunteer Board which is selected by the Members of the Zone.

The Executive Director works directly for the Zone Board with its head office based in Richmond BC. The selection committee is open to considering a Hybrid work environment proposal.

The Zone Association is in a strong financial position that has three full time main support staff to assist in the day-to-day operations and a number of others that are subcontracted to assist with events and accounting needs. The BC Zone works collaboratively with the National PGA of Canada Association in many matters such as education, awards and membership categories. The Zone does have flexibility and autonomy of how it delivers the member benefits such as additional education, buying shows, zone tournaments and events.

Responsibilities

The Position –

Reporting to the President of the Association, the successful candidate will be a key member of the Leadership Team. With 12 Board members that will continue to evolve with the length of their terms, the Executive Director is the continuity of the leadership. The Board has a number of standing committees which are created to assist the Executive Director and the PGA of BC staff in delivering the standard of member services expected by the PGA of BC Zone members.

The ED helps to facilitate these and regular Board Meetings while maintaining that the meetings are in accordance with all Bylaws and policies of the Zone. The Executive Director will use excellent communication skills to work effectively with the Board of Directors, PGA of BC Zone Members and the PGA of Canada National Office. They will advance the relationships with key stakeholders involved with the business environment aligned with the BC Zone.

The successful candidate will guide the PGA of BC towards the achievement of the mission, vision and core values of the PGA of Canada Strategic Plan. The role will require some travel to the different regions of the province and occasional weekend events.

Executive Director's Main Responsibilities:

Human Resources & General Management -

  • Lead and empower a strong team to deliver member services. Responsible for all hiring/firing as well as professional development of staff.
  • Ensure a Standard Operating Policy manual is updated and used with training of staff.

Budget & Finance -

  • In conjunction with the Vice President of Finance, prepare financial statements for review of the Finance Committee and Board. Prepare and execute fiscal budgets. Ensure accurate record keeping is in place to assist with annual audit. Championships & Events
  • Direct and coordinate all Zone Golf Tournaments.
  • Execute the various events such as the Buying Show, Award Show, Media/Sponsor Day and other events which showcase the PGA of BC image.

Communication -

  • Monitor all communications to members.
  • Ensure website and social media platforms are updated accordingly.
  • Provide strong communications to internal and external customers.
  • Be a visionary leader and represent the PGA of BC Board & Membership with pride in support of the PGA of Canada brand.

Membership & Education -

  • Coordinate additional professional development programming for membership.
  • Assist with any membership inquiries and forward to PGA National when required.
  • Facilitate the Job Postings, Safe Sport, Top 100 and other Membership needs including keeping the member database up to date. Business Development
  • Coordinate the team to build relationships and sales to help maximize revenue.
  • Undertake activities that improve the visibility of the association.
  • Establish strong relationships with PGA Zone/National as well as other golf associations.
Qualifications

Candidate Profile ​

• Relevant experience leading a team. Having a well-rounded background in administration, communications and business development will be an asset.

• Demonstrated exceptional customer service.

• Strong leadership and relationship-building internally and externally.

• Track record of motivating and inspiring a team towards a common vision with defined goals with a history of being collaborative.

• Experience in Bylaws and Governance.

• Experience in organization & promotion of events / tournaments.

• Ability to tactfully enforce policies, rules and regulations of the association.

• Having a strong golf or PGA background would assist but not essential.

Compensation

• $100K-$110K

• Yearly Bonus Incentive
