The CEO will leverage his/her/their status as an industry leader to continually advance Golf Ontario’s Mission and be a positive contributor to the future of golf in Ontario and Canada.
The CEO will have accountability and responsibility to provide leadership and executive management of Golf Ontario’s multi-faceted operation in support of the four pillars of our Strategic Plan: Participation, Performance, Membership, Organizational Strength; fostering key relationships at the local, provincial and national levels. The CEO will ensure that Golf Ontario provides value-added service to members, stakeholders and partners to whom we are accountable.
The ideal candidate will be a strategic thinker with a commitment to continuous learning, demonstrating the ability to operationalize a Mission Statement, develop differentiated revenue streams and sustain credibility among golf industry partners.

Responsibilities of the Chief Executive Officer
General Accountabilities
• Act in the best interests of the sport and Golf Ontario as the principal spokesperson for Golf Ontario on general business matters, and as the main point of contact between members, Board of Directors, staff and the public.
• Lead government advocacy and education efforts as they relate to policy legislation at the municipal and provincial levels, providing leadership in representing and implementing member interests.
• Set the ethical tone at the operating level of Golf Ontario and demonstrate integrity and ethical leadership, embracing Equity, Diversity and Inclusion through programs and offerings to member facilities.
• Oversee and develop revenue streams.
• Enhance program delivery, ensuring welcoming and engaging environments for new golfers.
• Act within the confines of Golf Ontario’s By-law, policies and authorities delegated by the Board of Directors.
Future Success of Golf Ontario
• Develop and execute the strategic plan against the Mission and strategic priorities established with the Board.
• Foster positive relationships with member facilities and identify opportunities for collaboration to grow the game.
• Develop and execute a Junior performance pathway to support our athletes, teams, and coaches.
• Direct and manage operational plans and Board approved budgets including Golf Ontario performance measures in alignment with the strategic plan.
• Manage relationships with various stakeholders to identify opportunities for engagement which will make the sport more accessible while supporting sustainable player pathways.
• Be adaptive and nimble in order to stay ahead of future trends and disruptors, such as technology and demographics, which will have a significant impact on the profile of future golfers and the way golf is played.
Organizational Strength
• Instill the Mission of Golf Ontario in all aspects of organizational leadership, culture and engagement.
• Lead the development, promotion and implementation of safe sport and Equity, Diversity and Inclusion policies and processes.
• Ensure that internal controls are appropriate and effective and certify that there is compliance with applicable legislative and regulatory requirements and Golf Ontario’s By-law and policies.
• Ensure the completeness, accuracy and integrity of Golf Ontario’s financial information and statements.
• Ensure that communications policies, practices, and authorities are well defined and executed.
• Assess and advise the Board of potential and significant risks to Golf Ontario and put actions in place to mitigate risks.
Talent Development and Executive Management
• Champion the creation and maintenance of an organizational climate and culture that fosters individual excellence and collective commitment to the Mission and operations of the organization, ensuring a high degree of employee performance and satisfaction.
• Embrace the future of work with programs and processes that support attraction, retention and development of the people that will help Golf Ontario achieve its objectives.
• Develop and implement a Total Rewards Strategy that includes equity, compliance and alignment with the competitive pay market; and ensure effective performance metrics are in place.
• Ensure that Golf Ontario has in place an effective senior management team with regular exposure to Board.
• Create and implement management development and succession plans for key senior management positions.
Board of Directors
• Provide the Board with timely and sufficient information, including complete and accurate financial reports, to allow effective decision making and to enable the Board to fulfil its fiduciary responsibilities.
• Consult with the President on all significant matters related to the organization and matters to come before the Board.
• Take direction only from the Board as a whole; derived from Board decisions and/or conveyed on behalf of the Board through the President.
• Report regularly to the Board on progress toward and achievement of Golf Ontario strategic objectives.
• Provide advice to the President in the development of Board agendas.
• Ensure that the Board is fully apprised of significant deviations from plan, pending actions by Golf Ontario, and issues, threats and risks to Golf Ontario.
• Assist in orienting new members to the Board and provide continuing education opportunities for Board members.
- Qualifications

Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sport Management or related field.
- A minimum of 10 or more years of relevant experience in corporate, non-profit association or government with established relationships in the golf industry.
- Prior executive/management level experience in the non-profit sector, working with a Board of Directors.
- Compensation
-
Base Salary: $138,600 to $184,800 per annum with a variable merit pay opportunity, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
The job requires travel as necessary, including overnight stays as well as work on weekends and evenings.
