Head Golf Professional: Kawartha Golf Club

Located in Peterborough, Kawartha was built in 1932 and was designed by renowned golf course architect Stanley Thompson. The club currently has an ongoing revitalization plan. Two new holes opened in August of 2022, a new turf department is near completion. In 2024 the building of a new clubhouse will commence and is scheduled for completion in June of 2025.

Job Summary
Guided by the Club’s mission statement, the Head Golf Professional will oversee and manage Kawartha’s golf operation (proshop, golf services, member events, outside events) and work cooperatively with other departments to promote and exceptional member and guest experience
Responsibilities

Reporting to the General Manager, the Head Golf Professional will be responsible for the following:

  • Recruit, train, and supervise all golf staff including Assistant Professionals, golf shop staff, golf services and starters.
  • Prepare and execute annual budgets and revenue forecasts
  • Financial management of the golf activities including revenue, expenses, profitability and all related budgets
  • Provide direction and assistance to the Golf Committee to ensure successful and enjoyable events.
  • Execution of all member events and outside events
  • Participate in the promotion and marketing of all golf related Club events and administer the programs
  • Operation of the golf practice facilities
  • Oversee all instructional golf and junior programs
  • Proficient instructor well versed in the latest teaching and club fitting technologies
  • Supervise the use and service of golf course owned equipment (ie. reservation system) and power carts

 

 

Qualifications
  • Certified Class “A” member of the PGA of Canada
  • Minimum 2 years private golf club experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, Jonas or equivalent POS software, inventory, booking software and event software
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Successful golf retail experience
  • Excellent customer service abilities
  • Strong team building and leadership skills
