This exciting opportunity will require a charismatic, engaging PGA of Canada member with exceptional career experience and a proven standard of excellence in leadership. The successful candidate will oversee all aspects of the Golf Operations department reporting to the Executive Professional / Director of Golf and be responsible for managing memorable experiences for our team, our members, guests and stakeholders.
The ideal candidate will be a Class “A” Member of the PGA of Canada, with prior experience as a Head Professional or Associate at a club with a high volume of rounds and that hosts many competitions / members events and tournaments. In addition, the candidate will have a high business acumen, be an excellent retailer, possess strong communication skills, be an expert in golf industry technology, and have experience in leading a large team. This role is at the center of our member experience and requires an emphasis on leadership, financial aptitude, and staff development.

- Coordinate and oversee golf personnel activities while providing the framework to guide team members in their personal/professional development plans and the positive work culture Mickelson National Golf Club delivers.
Operational Expectations
- Lead the team that provides excellence in service through effective training and implementation of golf operations standard operating procedures.
- Achieve financial targets at Mickelson National Golf Club relative to all golf related services rendered while providing the highest standard service levels within the allocated budget.
- Implement Mickelson National Golf Club policies, including operating procedures, Human Resources, Health and Safety, and other policies relevant to the golf operations.
- Lead and oversee the day-to-day golf operations at Mickelson National Golf Club, including all pre, on-course and post-round guest experience, while ensuring a world-class guest experience is achieved.
- Manage the golf operations systems efficiently and operate best-in-class practice facilities, golf academy programs, club storage, rental club, and cart fleet management.
- Understand, be operationally literate and manage all software systems associated with running the golf operations, retail, and inventory.
Member Relations
- Build and maintain positive relationships with club members in a friendly and professional manner.
- Address member and guest inquiries, concerns, and special requests promptly and professionally.
- Cultivate an inclusive golfing environment that welcomes members of all backgrounds and abilities.
Member Event & Tournament Coordination
- Organize, promote, and manage club tournaments and events, employing technology to streamline tournament logistics and ensure a seamless member experience.
- Ensure efficient and equitable competition by using technology to handle handicapping and rules enforcement. – Experience with Lightspeed & Golf Genius is preferred
- Attract suitable outside corporate events that will maximize revenue while inconveniencing member play as little as possible.
Golf Shop Management
- Maintain the golf shop's appearance and functionality, utilizing technology for efficient inventory control and purchasing, ensuring members have access to the latest golf equipment and apparel.
- Develop and implement a successful retail business plan/model that aligns with market trends and member preferences.
- Embrace technology where it enhances member shopping experiences.
- Assist in preparing annual budgets.
- Managing the golf department's budget with the ability to forecast and adjust operations accordingly to meet budget expectations.
Financial Acumen
- Benchmark rounds, revenues, profits, and payroll expense to approved and budgeted targets.
- Institute the discipline of Tools to Beat Budget or similar as set by the management team.
- Qualifications

- PGA of Canada Class A Membership or equivalent certification preferred.
- Extensive experience in golf shop management, with a demonstrated proficiency in golf-related technology.
- Demonstrated experience and competency in Golf Operations, Event Management and Retail Management.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills, with a focus on tech-enhanced member engagement.
- Leadership and team management experience.
- Exceptional organizational and communication skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

The compensation package will include a minimum base salary of $80,000.00 and the successful candidate will have the option to participate in our benefits program.
