Manager of Operations: Merritt Golf & Country Club
The Facility:
The golf course is a 9-hole Member owned facility which with the use of multiple tees allows for an 18-hole experience over 6200 yards. A golf course that has the Nicola River in play and is located in the heart of the city. Past PGA Tour player Roger Sloan grew up on the course honing his game as a junior.
The club was most recently run by a contractor is now moving back to a model where the club overseen by the Board and the Manager will work with the President and Board in running the facility.
Town of Merritt:
The town of Merritt is a close-knit population of approximately 8,000. It is the gateway to the Okanagan. If you enjoy the outdoors, then this town in the sun-drenched Nicola Valley is a great fit. There are hundreds of lakes only a short drive away. The town has also invested in building many indoor recreational centers to ensure year-round exercise and enjoyment.
Who are they looking for:
The Club is searching for a Manager of Operations who can lead the club. This could be a PGA member who has the experience of also overseeing other departments or it could be a hospitality expert who has a strong knowledge of golf. The successful candidate will be expected to lead the relatively small team. The Manager will be also responsible for working with the Administrative and Grounds Maintenance teams.
The Club is looking for an individual who is willing to take on this role for a minimum of 3-5 years but also welcome someone who would have the vison to live in the community long-term.

- The Merritt G&CC is currently seeking an exceptional individual to assume the role of Manager of Operations. Managing all aspects of the Club, including the activities and relationships between the Club and Board of Directors, Members, guests, employees, community, government, and industry. Reporting to the Board of Directors through the President, the Manager is responsible for managing the overall performance of the Merritt G&CC by providing an exceptional Member/Guest experience.

Position Summary and Main Duties: They are seeking a dedicated Golf Course Leader to join the team at the Merritt G&CC. To play a key role in ensuring exceptional guest experiences and smooth operations at the golf course. This is a full time seasonal continuing position that has off season potential.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee daily operations at the golf course, including managing tee times, coordinating with the pro shop, and monitoring pace of play
- Provide excellent customer service to golfers and guests, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly
- Supervise and train staff members to maintain high service standards
- Manage food service operations, including ordering supplies and ensuring quality control
- Handle cash transactions accurately and securely
- Organize and lead golf events, tournaments, and potentially lessons. Grow all revenue streams.
- Conduct regular inspections of the course to ensure safety and quality standards are met and work with the maintenance crew.
- Qualifications

- Post Secondary education in golf management or hospitality
- Leadership experience in a similar role within the golf or hospitality industry
- Proven strong communication and leadership abilities
- Knowledge of golf etiquette and rules
- Food service (food safe certified), cash handling, hospitality, customer service
- Experience reporting to a Board or Ownership group
- Compensation
- The successful applicant will receive a compensation package commensurate with experience. The Base Salary range will be from $65,000-80,000 per annum plus potential bonus.
