Officially founded in 1913, the Lethbridge Country Club is the only private golf club in southern Alberta south of the Calgary golf market. The golf course offers great challenge, enjoyment and variety for golfers of all skill levels with a tight, tree-lined, park-like front nine combined with a back nine which meanders through the Oldman River valley coulees offering natural elevation changes and great vistas. 

The Lethbridge Country Club boasts 18 holes, driving range with weather protected practice and teaching area, and short game practice areas.  Its 10,000 square foot clubhouse amply provides members dining, lounge, locker rooms and pro shop services.

Job Summary

Select People Solutions is pleased to be working with the Lethbridge Country Club as they search for their new General Manager. The General Manager will be responsible for the overall operations of the Lethbridge Country Club, including the Pro Shop, Food and Beverage Services, Turf Management, Financial Management, and Staff Management. The ideal candidate will seek innovation while valuing heritage and tradition. They will also strive to provide exemplary service to members and build relationships with both clients and members.

 

Estimated start: September–December 2023

Responsibilities

• Managing all day-to-day operations of the Club, including smooth functioning of the Pro Shop, Food and Beverage Services, Turf Management, Financial Management, and staff management to ensure the best member experience

• Developing sound relationships with staff, department heads, Board Members and Club Members to ensure member satisfaction and positive workplace culture

• Managing budgets and fiscal planning, including; annual operating budgets, capital budgets, and membership projections

• Creating strategic plans for Club development, life-cycle plans, expansion projects, Club services, facilities upgrades, and maintenance

• Ensuring adherence to Club bylaws, policies, procedures, and rules including the enforcing or interpretation of such as needed

• Attending and recording relevant meetings as held by the Board of Directors, Club committees, and department heads

• Acting as liaison between respective department heads, the Board of Directors, and general members, through means of prepared correspondence, social media, newsletter, website, and email communications

• Preforming annual staff reviews, resolving escalated personnel issues, and ensuring structures are in place for effective onboarding and retention

• Monitoring and recording payroll changes for all staff

• Organizing proper contracts for facility cleaning, maintenance, and security for both grounds and clubhouse

• Coordinating events and programs as needed to ensure optimal member satisfaction and participation

Qualifications

• Must be a Class “A” Professional and CPGA Member in good standing or have a Bachelor’s degree in Business

• 5+ years experience in senior leadership

• Strong leadership, management, and relationship building skills

• Ability to interpret and create financial reports to identify risks and make logical recommendations

• Ability to adapt to changes with a strong business acumen

• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills

• Proficiency in MS Suite, Social Media, and Golf Management Software

• Previous experience reporting to or sitting on a Board of Directors

• Must have a passion and knowledge for the sport of golf

Compensation

• The expected salary will be $100K–$120K dependent on experience

• This will be a full-time, permanent position

• Some evenings and weekends as required
