Assistant/Associate Professional Ledgeview Golf Club - Abbotsford, BC

The Ledgeview Golf Club, located in Abbotsford BC, has just celebrated its 60th anniversary. With a unique and decorated history of developing some of Canadas top professionals, such as Adam Hadwin and Nick Taylor, Ledgeview, operating as a non- profit society, is a challenging par 70 layout. Major changes have taken place over the past 2 years highlighted by the opening of a brand new 12,000 sqft clubhouse with a full-service restaurant and large banquet space. In 2022 the Trans Mountain Expansion Project entered the Ledgeview property and provided the opportunity to make major course improvements including the completion of renovations to 3 greens and the addition of an 80 yd practice hole.

In addition to accommodating both a full membership, public play, and charity events, Ledgeview is focused on being a host venue for major provincial and national championships. 2023 Ledgeview played host to the PGA of Canada Seniors National Championship and will be hosting the 122nd BC Amateur Championship.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Head Golf Professional, the Associate/Assistant Golf Professional is responsible to provide leadership and execution in the planning and delivery of all duties related to the Golf Operations.

The ideal candidate will be responsible to supervise and manage golf operations in the absence of the Head Golf Professional and or the Golf Shop Manager. All duties of the position shall be performed with a commitment to the highest level of customer service and total satisfaction of all members and guests, which will include, but are not limited to checking in golfers, handling cash, maintaining control of the tee sheet, organizing tournaments and leagues, assisting with the continued development of our junior programs, overseeing golf operations, and developing good relationships with members.

Responsibilities

Ladies Night Coordinator:

  • Create a fun and exciting golfing environment for our Ladies League participants.
  • Develop a league program of weekly events.
  • Coordinate special / theme league nights throughout the duration of the season.
  • Generates monthly calendar of events for management review.
  • Advises Head Professional and Shop Manager of future events in order to facilitate proper coordination of special set-up requirements and staffing levels.
  • Create special golf lesson clinic opportunities for league participants
  • Organize and execute the season end banquet.
  • Create & maintain the budget
  • Regular and reliable attendance on tournament days.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Junior Night Team Leader:

  • Develop and implement Junior Golf Night schedule.
  • Generate monthly calendar of events for management review.
  • Provide and monitor all correspondence to the Junior Night participants.
  • Manage the registration process for all participants.
  • Continue to develop the golf skills and life skills of the Ledgeview Junior Night participants.
  • Plan, organize, deliver and execute all Junior Night events throughout the duration of the program.
  • Provide and maintain scoring systems throughout the season.
  • Organize year end matches and season ending wrap-up event.
  • Create & maintain the budget
  • Regular and reliable attendance on tournament days.
  • Performs other duties as required.

Duties / Responsibilities / Expectations Continued:

  • Assist with the staff training programs – product knowledge, member/guest service expectations
  • Assist in the development of the Ledgeview Lesson Program offerings
  • Organizing & delivering an exceptional golf lesson experience for members/guests/juniors
  • Provide an exceptional custom club fitting experience
  • Provide minor club repair service
  • Provide an expertise in retail sales including equipment, apparel and accessories
Qualifications

The successful candidate must possess the following:

 

  • PGA of Canada member in good standing
  • Two plus years of industry experience
  • Passion for the golf business & willingness to grow as professional
  • Experience with Golf Genius would be considered an asset
  • Experience with Club Prophet POS would be considered an asset
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Mature, self-motivated, willingness to accept responsibility and accountability while working in a team environment
  • Be able to conduct yourself in a professional, business like manner
  • Highly responsible and reliable
Compensation
  • Salary: $3,600 - $4,000 per month (based on experience)
  • 37.5 required golf shop hours
  • Year-round employment
  • Lesson revenue opportunities - Retain 80% of lesson revenue
