Apprentice / Assistant Professional: Lakeside Golf Club

Lakeside Golf Club is a semi-private golf club that is located minutes east of Calgary, in the heart of Chestermere, Alberta. The City of Chestermere is growing exponentially, and now boasts a community of 28,000 plus people, up 7,000 people since 2021. With the growth of the community, Lakeside Golf Club has grown as well. With roughly 280 members consisting of principle members, spousal members and junior members. It boasts a very busy Ladies League with 150 plus ladies playing, a Men’s League with 170 plus men playing and a junior program that sees annually over 100 children participate throughout the course of the season.

Lakeside Golf Club also continues to be a leader in custom fitting and coaching/lessons program for the community of Chestermere and area. In 2024, Lakeside’s PGA of Alberta Professionals taught 400+ hours (combined) of lessons between our indoor facility, on the range, putting green and golf course. In 2020, Lakeside Golf Club invested in a TrackMan 4 which powers are indoor simulator and can be used outdoor during lessons and fittings.

Lakeside Golf Club seeks the services of an Apprentice/Assistant professional who is in good standing with the PGA of Canada for the 2025 season and beyond. This position is a seasonal position and will allow the professional to take on more of a specialized role within the industry. The successful candidate will have an interest in running leagues, corporate events and member tournaments.

Job Summary
Lakeside is seeking the services of an Apprentice/Assistant Professional who is interested in organizing, planning, and executing a variety of events, including golf leagues, corporate functions, and member events. This role involves working closely with committees, members and corporate events to ensure their needs are met, coordinating logistics, and providing exceptional customer service throughout the event planning and execution process.
Responsibilities
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute golf leagues, corporate events, and member events.
  • Work with clients to understand event objectives, preferences, and budget.
  • Ensure smooth event operations, addressing any issues that arise quickly and professionally.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with corporate clients and members.
  • Oversee event setup, execution, and breakdown, ensuring that the golf course and facilities are presented in a polished manner.
  • Promote events through internal and external communication channels to increase participation and engagement.
  • Provide post-event evaluations, feedback, and recommendations for future events.
Qualifications
  • Strong organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
  • Experience in event planning and coordination would be an asset.
  • Knowledge of golf course operations and golf club events is a plus.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, and solve problems quickly.
  • Flexible schedule with availability to work evenings and weekends as needed.
Compensation
Salary: $3600 - $4000 per month
