Dave Zink
In 1971, Imperial Tobacco became the first title sponsor of the Canadian Tour through its subsidiary Peter Jackson. Dave R. Zink, a twenty-eight-year-old club professional who had worked as an assistant at Toronto’s Bayview Country Club and Head Professional at the Bowmanville Golf & C.C. was hired by the CPGA to coordinate the cross-country circuit. When Bill Hamilton returned to the RCGA as tournament director in 1973, Dave Zink assumed the role of Executive Director. During his time at the helm, he moved the CPGA from rented office space on Yonge Street to a three-story townhouse the association purchased in Toronto’s Cabbagetown.
