This advanced-level, 6-module online course is tailored for experienced managers in the golf and private club sector. Geared toward professionals with a minimum of five years of management experience, this course will provide you with in-depth knowledge and practical tools for enhancing governance practices at your golf facility. The course covers critical topics such as governance structures, board performance, stakeholder relations, and proposal development—all designed to align with best practices and elevate your club’s governance and leadership standards.
Course content will be delivered through six dynamic modules over a 12-week period. Each module includes interactive learning activities, group discussions, and practical assignments that build upon real-world challenges.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be equipped to refine your facility’s governance model, enhance board performance, improve stakeholder engagement, and lead with confidence in both decision-making and strategy.
By the end of this course, you will be able to:
- Recommend improvements to your golf facility’s governance structure based on the Club Governance Model.
- Review and revise key governance documents to ensure they align with industry best practices.
- Implement strategies for board development and performance monitoring.
- Apply best practices to run more effective meetings and decision-making processes.
- Design and structure committees within your golf facility to enhance their effectiveness.
- Write compelling proposals to gain support for key initiatives at your facility.

Module 2: Managing Stakeholder Documents and Resources
Best practices for managing and maintaining critical documents such as club bylaws, policies, and stakeholder resources.
Module 3: Board Development and Performance Measures
Strategies for developing high-performing boards, setting performance measures, and evaluating board effectiveness.
Module 4: Meetings and Other Proceedings
Effective meeting strategies, including agendas, protocols, and decision-making best practices for board and committee meetings.
Module 5: Connecting Boards, Committees, and Management
Enhancing communication and collaboration between the board, committees, and management teams.
Module 6: Writing Proposals and Making Decisions
Techniques for crafting persuasive proposals, presenting ideas, and making strategic decisions that align with your club’s goals.

Active Participation (50%) – Completing the Learn its!, Discuss its!, Share its!, and Apply its! activities within the designated timelines.

Assignments and Final Project (50%) – At the end of each module, you will complete practical assignments, including a final proposal that applies what you’ve learned to a real-life scenario at your golf facility.
