Mike Weir Male Player of the Year Award
The Mike Weir Male Player of the Year Award recognizes as an outstanding layer among the ranks of the PGA of Canada membership. The Player of the Year will be awarded to the member who attains the most points based on the criteria within the PGA of Canada Player Rankings for the calendar year of the award.
Mike Weir will go down in the history of Canadian Golf as being one of the best players this country has ever churned out. Throughout his career, he played on five Presidents’ Cup teams, represented Canada four times at the World Cup, won eight PGA Tour tournaments—his biggest was the 2003 Masters, where he became the first Canadian male to win a major. Weir was invested as a member of the Order of Canada in 2009 and inducted into the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame in 2009.
