Emily Kaufer
Please accept the following as my statement of interest in becoming a director at PGA of Canada. I am a strongly dedicated and passionate individual, whose valuable experiences and qualifications will be an asset to the association.
From 2016-2020, I was a Director on the Board of Directors for the Association of Workplace Investigators (AWI), a professional membership association founded in 2009, for attorneys, human resources professionals, private investigators, and many others who conduct, manage, or have a professional interest in workplace investigations. During that time, I also served as the Chair of the Canadian Chapter. My knowledge of Canadian federal law, regarding harassment and violence in the workplace, and my experiences in establishing company-wide policies and procedures at Air Canada, were instrumental in identifying and executing the Canadian Chapter’s strategic priorities. I created uniquely Canadian experiences and content (including webinars and an in-person conference) for a new audience – accomplishing two key objectives in the organization’s strategic plan.
My expertise and skills in regulatory and legal compliance include collaborating with the Canada Labour Program on the establishment of the Work Place Harassment and Violence Prevention Regulations (Bill C-65), an Act that amended the Canada Labour Code. Further, as the designate for Air Canada, I played a key role in enhancing legal and regulatory affairs in the areas of health and safety, and labour. I worked closely with an employer’s association, FETCO (Federally Regulated Employers –Transportation and Communications). I was involved particularly with its Human Rights and Part II Canada Labour Code Committees.
I am confident that both my personal and my employment values will help positively shape the direction of the PGA of Canada.
Sincerely,
Emily Kaufer, B.C.L./LL.B., AWI-CH
